MEd with Secondary Education Credential
The Master’s Credential Cohort Program (MCC) is designed to prepare effective elementary, middle and high school educators. The program emphasizes the connection between theory and practice, weaving together university-based coursework and thoughtfully designed field experiences. Candidates in the program develop the knowledge, skills and strategies needed to flourish in their own classrooms, as well as the critical habits of mind and reflective practice that will allow them to grow as educators throughout their careers. Faculty and students in the program are committed to teaching for social justice and promoting educational excellence and equity in all school settings.
Candidate in our MCC program may complete a combined masters and credential program in an accelerated one-year format, an 18-month format, or a traditional two-year program. MCC candidates in our 18-month and two-year formats have the option of choosing either a multiple (elementary) or single (secondary) subject credential, and may also complete requirements towards an education specialist (mild/moderate) credential. The program gives candidates the opportunity to complete the Teacher Performance Assessment and an action research project as a merged capstone. Candidates undertake field experiences each semester which are aligned with the courses for the semester and culminate in a full-time student teaching experience.
The Master’s Credential Cohort program uses a cohort model in alignment with its vision of providing candidates with opportunities to enhance the quality of their experiences by learning from each other.
